J. Steven Manolis - Bio
J. Steven Manolis is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Manolis &
Company LLC (“MANOCO”) his 100% privately owned real estate merchant bank,
and is also Chairman of GHM (USA) LLC Hotels the wholly owned US
subsidiary of GHM Hotels (www.ghmhotels.com).
He received his MBA from the University of Chicago in 1974. After
graduation he began work for Salomon Brothers, where he became the
youngest General Partner of the Firm in 1980. Starting in 1979 Mr. Manolis
was one of the three Founding Partners of the Mortgage Securities Group,
which pioneered Securitization for the Residential and Commercial Mortgage
Markets, and also Equity Property Securitization. This business, which he
helped envision, create and manage, has become a multi trillion dollar
global business since its inception. In 1984 he was asked to assume the
multi-disciplinary responsibility of heading Salomon’s Global Real Estate
Department, where he established and managed ten offices in the US,
Europe, and Asia and closed over $100 billion of debt and equity
transactions during his tenure. In 1992 he established his own Firm,
Manolis & Company LLC, a private boutique real estate investment and
merchant banking, Firm specializing in land development, hotels and
resorts, offices and luxury mixed-use development. In 2000 he also took on
the responsibility of becoming Chairman of GHM USA LLC, a subsidiary of
Adrian Zecha’s global GHM Hotels Ltd. Luxury hotel Group. At GHM USA he is
Chairman, minority shareholder and responsible for new business
development in the US, and also selected GHM projects throughout the
world. With Amanresorts he is both an advisor and principal investor in
certain identified new resorts. The Setai Resort and Residences, GHM’s
first North American project, opened in South Beach (www.setai.com) in
August 2005. The Setai has been awarded Best Resort in North America for
the last three years by Gallivanter’s Guide and 2008 Most Outstanding
Hotel in Canada and the US by Conde Nast Johannsen’s.

that provides antibacterial protection for solid state polymeric products)

Director of Microban Asia Pacific, an affiliate of Microban International.
Mr. Manolis is a past Member of the Council and past Chairman of the
Advisory Board of The National Academy of Design. He was given the
honorary Man of the Year Award at the NAD in 2006. Founded in 1827, and
headquartered in NYC, the NAD (see
www.nationalacademy.org) is the United
States oldest and most prestigious honorary Artist Organization. In 2007
Mr. Manolis became a Trustee and Chairman of the Development Committee of
the Vermont Studio Center, the largest artist/writer monthly attended
Artist Colony in the United States (see
www.vermontstudiocenter.org). He
is a Member of The Metropolitan Club, The Atlantic Golf Club (where he was
one of the first ten Founding Members and Chairman of the Admissions
Committee), and Emerald Dunes Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. He
has been married for 29 years to his wife Michelle K. Manolis and they
live/work in seasonal rotation in their two east coast homes (see closing
metrics). Michelle Manolis is the Treasurer and Corporate Secretary of
both GHM (USA) LLC and MANOCO. Mr. & Mrs. Manolis have three daughters,
Mrs. Virginia McLean-Stillit (40) who resides in London, and Mrs. Kristen
E. Manolis (36) in Greenwich, Connecticut, and Mrs. Nicole Manolis Cudzil
(34) who lives in New York City. Michelle and Steven are blessed with four
grandchildren. Mr. Manolis received his Bachelor of Science degree from
the University of South Dakota in 1970, served as an Artillery Lieutenant
in the US Army from 1970 to 1972, and received his MBA from the University
of Chicago in 1974. He is a licensed real estate broker in NY State.
